Bettr Coffee Co.
It took Gold Mountain Coffee Growers a few years to track down Don Isidro, who already had a stellar reputation as a producer of the most wonderful Caturra grown at high altitudes. A direct trade social enterprise that connects coffee farmers with roasters to improve quality and promote sustainability, Gold Mountain Coffee is defined by their commitment to innovation and quality, which makes its pairing with Don Isidro’s estate such a natural and effortless thing.
To keep the watershed clean, Don Isidro followed Gold Mountain Coffee’s example and built water filters to clean the runoff used for washing coffee, with funding for the initiative aided by the latter.
Apart from its commitment to ecologically sound and zero-waste practices, Gold Mountain Coffee also supports the growth and development of the community through a range of sustainable development initiatives. Water is provided to schools far from utility grids, as are textbooks, desks, libraries, and other educational necessities. Free computing classes for youths in the community (with a female attendance of 90%) have also been organised and scholarships as well as medical supplies sponsored. In fact they are constantly looking out for new initiatives based on assessments of current and changing needs in the community.
