About This Coffee
Featured in “10 Best Global Coffee Brands to Order Online” with other renowned roasters by The Wall Street Journal’s commerce website, Buy Side.
For our 10th anniversary, we celebrated a Decade of Dedication to the social contribution, our people, love of coffee, and using business as a force for good. To symbolise 10 Bettr years, our special Anniversary Edition coffees were each chosen for their significance in our journey in the last decade.
This delicate, natural anaerobic processed coffee comes from Tlogosari village in the foothills of Mt. Argopuro in East Java. It is our first direct trade coffee from Indonesia — we work with the next-generation Indonesian coffee professionals committed to developing the quality and sustainability of Indonesian coffee. Our partners at Belift Green Beans choose farmers who are willing to embrace changes and consistently work with them, investing in process improvement techniques. The coffees are direct trade, hand-picked and sorted, cupped by Q grade, and assessed by many of the local coffee experts.
Pak Muhlisin, the farmer lead for Argopuro, is a native of the Tlogosari Village. He pursued an education in agricultural science and brought his knowledge of the specialty coffee industry and coffee farming to the village to optimise the region’s coffee potential.
The village has a social non-profit cooperative set up by the villagers for the community's well-being, and the cooperative is called Pokmas Walida.
20% of the profit from the coffee beans sales go directly to the social non-profit cooperative, which runs a local K-12 school that educates the villagers in his village and a percentage goes to the government in exchange to letting the villagers grow coffee there.
